Sculpture "Unity" Unveiled

On July 4, the Foundation unveiled a sculpture, "Unity", at Charleston's Haddad Park. The artwork was the result of a year-long collaboration between Dr. Cubert Smith, a Charleston artist and Director of the City of Charleston's Environmental Resources Office, and Vladimir Smirnoff, a sculptor from Korolev. The dedication ceremony went flawlessly, the rain clearing away as the ceremony began. The project could not have been undertaken, much less completed, without the backing of Charleston mayor G. Kemp Melton. Mayor Melton lent his support to the project and allowed Dr. Smith the time to complete the sculpture. The Charleston-Korolev Connection, under Dr. Smith, provided a huge amount of help to the project. Thanks to all those involved in making this international undertaking such a success.
