Once the "Winter Palace", it is now one of the most famous art museums in the world.  It holds over 3 million items spanning every genre of Western European art and includes DaVinci, Rembrandt, Gauguin, Rousseau, and Picasso.   To spend a few moments at each of the Hermitage's exhibits would require nine years.
